History of Fresh Arts Inc
Fresh Arts was formed in 2003 as an informal group of artists receiving a monthly e-newsletter. In 2004, the group held its first show with Dubbo Regional Gallery and became incorporated. Over the next three years, Fresh Arts Inc. hosted 8 group shows in Dubbo, Gilgandra and Canowindra. In 2008, the annual survey show was held in the Main Gallery of the prestigious Western Plains Cultural Centre, curated by Kent Buchanan (who curated the first show in 2004). As well as exhibiting, Fresh Arts has organised workshops, professional development days and short residencies for artists keen to network, learn and generally improve their practices. The network meets about four times a year and is committed to the ongoing provision of exhibition opportunities, professional development and fostering audiences for regionally-produced art.
